Message from Women LEAD Chair Rep. Allyson Schwartz

We have made real strides in electing more women to Congress. Just over a decade ago, 30 Democratic women served in the U.S. House of Representatives. Today, I am one of 53 Democratic women proudly serving under the leadership of our Speaker, Nancy Pelosi. But we can and must do better.

We have smart, committed, and experienced women serving in Congress today. They are leaders, and we are proud of each of them. Several are running for re-election in tough districts -- while other women are ready, willing and able to run and win in 2008. By electing more strong women, we will not only retain but grow our Majority in 2008.

As someone who knows just how important it is to elect and re-elect women candidates, we need your support. There is no doubt your advocacy, enthusiasm, and your financial support will help expand the number of Democratic women serving with me in the House. That is where the DCCC's Women LEAD comes in -- every dollar we raise will be used to support our women candidates in next year's tough races.

I am proud to be chairing Women LEAD and I hope you will join me in providing our women candidates with what it takes to win!

Allyson Schwartz
